With a new baby on the way, I've been busy rushing around doing all the things that prospective parents usually do in anticipation of their little bundle of joy coming home for the first time. I've been getting the nursery ready, buying all the bottles, diapers, and clothing I can lay my hands on, and purchasing bigger equipment such as the crib, stroller, and car seat. I've also been looking at toys like wood alphabet blocks or mobiles that will aid my baby's development.
Toys are a very important part of an infant's life. Even young babies crave stimulation, and the right age-appropriate toys can provide just that. Infants can benefit from colorful items that move on their own, which is why mobiles are a popular choice for this age group. As the baby gets a bit older, products like rattles, teething toys, or stacking cups will do the trick. Then it's on to more developmentally advanced toys such as wood alphabet blocks, balls, and textured toys.

Most of these toys can be purchased at very reasonable prices from a local retailer or online, so there shouldn't be any major budget concerns to prevent you from stocking the nursery with developmentally appropriate items. I've learned all this from the countless parenting books, magazines, and articles I've read in the past few months, and have taken the advice myself. Now all that's left to do is to wait for my precious one to enter this world and bring unbounded joy to my life!
